Private: Macgregor Downs Country Club Raises Record Funds for Local Charity
MACGREGOR DOWNS COUNTRY CLUB RAISES RECORD FUNDS FOR LOCAL CHARITY
Pretty In Pink Foundation Receives Donation from 24th Annual Breast Cancer Classic

[RALEIGH, NC] – October 28, 2019 – In a two-day event, MacGregor Downs Country Club hosted men’s and women’s tennis and golf events and an evening fundraising party, raising in excess of $115,000 to benefit their charity of choice, Pretty In Pink Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to assist uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients in North Carolina with payment of their medical bills.
At Pretty In Pink Foundation, this donation will fund surgery, chemotherapy administration and radiation therapy for low-income breast cancer patients in North Carolina that cannot afford to pay for medical treatment. Surpassing last year’s fundraising result by 65%, it is expected that the donation from the MacGregor Breast Cancer Classic will fund at least 50 economically disadvantaged citizens, giving them an increased chance for survival.
Pretty In Pink Foundation will work together with surgeons, oncologists and radiologists to acquire reduced rates, then use MacGregor Breast Cancer Classic funds to make invoice payments directly to medical service providers, allowing patients to focus on their health rather than financial stress. “Our goal is to ensure that every breast cancer patient in North Carolina has access to medical treatment regardless of her ability to pay,” said Becky Horn, Executive Director of Pretty In Pink Foundation. “This generous, life-saving gift from MacGregor Downs Country Club and its members will help move us closer to that reality.”
“The Breast Cancer Classic event started 24 years ago and has grown from a small ladies golf tournament to a two-day co-ed golf, tennis and social event with more than 600 participants, including 67 sponsors” said MacGregor Downs club member, event chair, and Pretty In Pink Board member Kelly Keller. “Our Club is delighted that we can partner with Pretty In Pink Foundation in such an impactful way.”
Any resident of North Carolina who is a U.S. citizen, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and meets the household income guidelines, can download an application online to apply for assistance from Pretty In Pink Foundation.
