FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
[Raleigh, NC] – March 2, 2022- Pretty In Pink Foundation’s “Walk for a Champion” is back for a second year! The virtual walkathon was such a huge success last year, that it has become an annual event and this year it starts with a kick-off party in Raleigh!
“Walk for a Champion” is being held virtually from March 19th through April 2nd and challenges participants to walk 15 miles over 15 days. The fee to register is $15 and participants are encouraged to donate and fundraise for Pretty In Pink Foundation. Omega Sports in the North Hills area of Raleigh is hosting the kick-off party on Saturday, March 19th from 11am to 1pm. Vendors will be on hand and guests can enjoy food and giveaways!
“We had such a great response last year and we’re so excited to add a kick-off party to jump start this fundraiser, which is so important for our foundation,” said Becky Horn, executive director of Pretty In Pink Foundation. “This is a great way to encourage physical activity and at the same time, we’re raising funds which will go directly toward paying for life-saving medical services for uninsured and under-insured North Carolina breast cancer patients, who we call our Champions.”
In 2021, 319 uninsured and under-insured breast cancer patients across North Carolina received funds from Pretty In Pink to pay for surgery, chemotherapy administration, and radiation treatment. The non-profit has never had to turn away a single qualified applicant and they continue helping more and more patients every year. To date, Pretty In Pink has served Champions in 96 of the 100 North Carolina counties.
“We help people all across the state and this is the perfect way to encourage supporters from the mountains to the coast to get involved!” said Tara Coppedge, organizer and director of marketing and communications for Pretty In Pink Foundation. “This year we’ve added the kick-off party in Raleigh to bring even more excitement to this virtual walkathon! Last year, 75 supporters spanning 6 states participated and we’re hoping to have even more this year. And of course we couldn’t do it without our presenting sponsor, the Dalton franchise GNC locations!”
