Rita's Story

COVID-19 made life more challenging for everyone, especially breast cancer patients—like Rita, who’s a mother and grandmother.  During the start of the pandemic, Rita was going through chemotherapy, which also made her high-risk.  Her employer advised her not to come to work, after reporting several cases of COVID in the workplace.  But since the company did not have short-term disability or paid time off, Rita fell behind on her rent payments and couldn’t afford her medical bills.  That’s when she asked Pretty In Pink Foundation for assistance.

“I’m so thankful for you all,” said Rita, our Champion.  “Without the Pretty In Pink Foundation, I wouldn’t have made it.”
