PRETTY IN PINK FOUNDATION HIRES DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS TO ACCELERATE STATEWIDE AWARENESS

[RALEIGH, NC] – December 9, 2020- 2020 has been a challenging year for many, but dealing with the global pandemic and being diagnosed with breast cancer has created severe financial stress for some of North Carolina’s most vulnerable citizens. The Pretty In Pink Foundation wants to get that story out, in a powerful way, to solicit statewide support.
Acknowledging that breast cancer patients in North Carolina need financial help for medical treatment now more than ever, The Pretty In Pink Foundation has hired Tara Coppedge as the Director of Marketing and Communications to create broader awareness and financial support for the organization.
Prior to joining Pretty In Pink, Coppedge worked as an anchor at Spectrum News and has spent more than 11 years in the news industry. Working at Pretty In Pink is also personal for Coppedge, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor.
“The reason I became a journalist was to tell people’s stories and make a difference in our community. Now I get to make a difference by sharing the story of Pretty In Pink and all of the Champions we help,” said Coppedge. “Being part of this amazing organization is also personal for me and I am so excited to be able to use my communication skills to help even more patients across North Carolina.”
Pretty In Pink continues to help more and more victims every year. In 2020, they have removed the financial barrier to medical treatment for a record number of more than 250 breast cancer patients across North Carolina so they can have an increased chance of survival. The Foundation has served patients in 94 of 100 counties.
“We collect a lot of data about economically-challenged breast cancer patients in North Carolina,” said Becky Horn, Executive Director of Pretty In Pink Foundation. “Having Tara and her special skills on our team will help us portray the human side of this disease – it’s personal and it’s local. Everyone we help has a family name and street address right here in North Carolina. Tara wants to help them tell their story and expand our reach to help patients across the state.”
